The plantation was established in the beginning of the 1900’s by the Andalucian immigrant Moisés Mugüerza Gutiérrez who planted cacao along with coffee and other crops
This variety was then named "Chumphon 1 hybrid" in honor of its origins and its potential in the Chumphon region
resources and a market place needed to maintain sustainable cacao farming
