Suzuri Stone best bottle ink Being made of porcelainIntended to be used with ink sticks for sumi e, brush painting, or calligraphy. 5 1 2" x 2 7 8" Traditionally ink was produced by grinding an ink stick in water against a piece of slate. The suzuri stone is often used in illustrations for Japanese Sumi e instructions. Its grinding area is flat with a sloping indentation which forms a small well at one end.
