Our Flywheel system is connected to the DC bus, in the same way as a battery bank receiving charging current from the UPS and delivering DC current to the UPS inverter during a discharge. By providing backup power (kW) and voltage stabilization, it creates a bridge between the main power source and a secondary source (genset) in long-lasting disturbances. It has the ability to grow modularly to increase backup time or for N + n configurations to increase redundancy.
The Flywheel works like a mechanical battery, where a rotating mass made of space-grade steel stores kinetic energy. The technology used in our Flywheel includes a high-speed permanent magnet generator motor, contact-free magnetic bearings which levitate and support the rotor during operation, as well as a touch screen control that provides information on the main parameters operating system.
